A lot of what I've seen in video games today is the sheer speed the field is evolving. Graphics make the worlds look like reality. Gameplay is becoming more user friendly and interactive. Worlds are far more immersive. This brings up the question of where will video games take us next?

Technology today is growing and evolving faster than ever. It's only obvious that video games will grow as well. With the release of the Xbox One and the Playstation 4, console games have moved into the realm that PC gaming has been in for years: better graphics and higher quality games. Plus, PC games also allow for modding. With console and PC games growing every year, I've been wondering where this will lead. Gamers (at least me) want immersion and realism in games. How cool would it be to interact, truly interact, with a game? Kinect and Move offer a glimpse of interactive gameplay, but I'm not talking about moving around in your living room. I'm talking about interactive virtual reality.

Now, of course, there will be people out there that will discredit this. "People need to see the real world." "It's too interactive, people will do these things in real life FOR SURE now." While those arguments are valid, there is no evidence of video games being the sole cause of real world violence. Plus, games that put you in a "real" world would give people who are paralyzed legs, allow freedom of choice for people that feel stuck in this world and, maybe, give the blind some sight. The games would be far more interactive and immersive, allowing you to taste, touch, hear and smell the world around you. I'm going into the field of creating games, specifically RPGs, so this just seems like an amazing way to make those types of games really stand out.

Just a thought I've had for awhile. Looking forward go seeing if this starts soon, and if not, I'll start it myself!

I've been feeling the same way since the late 90s and really wanted to be involved but where do you start? I really hope this sort of thing happens in our lifetime.

The trick is to be able to bring our consciousness into the game. That technology seems out of reach right now, but there have been experiments that allow people simple control over a virtual world. It'll only grow from here..
